Solar Receives ISO 9002 and AS9000 Certification

Michael Moyer, Quality Assurance Manager at Solar Atmospheres, announced that the company has achieved ISO 9002:1994 Registration and certified conformance to AS9000:1998″ at their Souderton, and Hatfield facilities through Steel Related Industries (SRI) Quality System Registrar, Inc.  The scope of the registration and certified conformance is “Commercial Vacuum Heat-Treating and Brazing Services”.

The impact of ISO9002 / AS9000 certification assures customers that Solar complies and maintains a quality system in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9002 standard, with supplemental requirements from the aerospace industry, AS9000.  These standards are aimed at producing a product or service that conforms to customers requirements, while eliminating the introduction of known defects into the production stream.

Solar Atmospheres adds this registration and certified conformance achievement to their National Aeronautics Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP) accreditation.  Solar achieved NADCAP accreditation in 1995 for the following materials and processes: beryllium copper, nickel and cobalt alloys, stainless and PH steels, steels, titanium alloys, vacuum heat treating, cryogenic (Sub-Zero) treatments, and vacuum furnace brazing.

In the near future, Solar Atmospheres is planning to extend the ISO/AS Quality System and NADCAP special process standards certifications to their newly opened Hermitage facility in Western PA.
