Solar Atmospheres Forms Furnace Manufacturing Company
William R. Jones, CEO of Solar Atmospheres, has announced the formation of Solar Atmospheres Manufacturing, Inc. Solar Atmospheres Manufacturing will have two complementary divisions to manufacture and develop vacuum furnaces and their component systems.
The initial Solar Manufacturing division results from the acquisition of Magnetic Specialties, Inc. (MSI). Bruce Ruhf, the former owner and president of MSI, will head Solar Manufacturing, which will continue to manufacture and develop power supplies, electronic power drives and pulse fired SCRs for many furnace applications.
Ruhf has developed the FCS 2000 tap switching power supply for electric furnace power control. The FCS 2000 has become the standard power supply for Solar Atmospheres commercial heat treating operations.
To complement the Magnetic Specialties division, a second division, Solar Furnaces, will be established. Solar Furnaces will concentrate on building advanced furnaces and component systems for Solar Atmospheres as well as hot zone improvement and rebuilding.
In time, the furnace division will introduce a new vacuum quench furnace based on current testing and math modeling using either helium or hydrogen quench gas. The goal is to replace the internal oil quench protective atmosphere furnace now utilized in current high production metal heat treating applications.
William R. Jones has had over 30 years experience in vacuum furnace manufacturing development as President of Abar and as founder and former owner of Vacuum Furnace Systems Corporation.
