Western PA Flying High with Airbus Approval
With a major presence in the U.S. and Canada, Airbus has more than 2,600 single aisle and wide body jet liners on order by North American customers and over 1,100 planes currently in service. To keep up with this historic demand for commercial aerospace builds, Airbus recently selected Solar Atmospheres of Western PA (SAWPA) to join their global supply chain, and contribute to their success.
Airbus’ stringent “Focus at 5M” supplier audits evaluate Manpower, Machinery, Measurement, Material, and Milieu (French for environment). SAWPA’s vacuum heat treating facility ranked very high in all categories and can now process critical, high-value parts for this leading aerospace company. This “Qualification Special Process” audit resulted in approval for:
- AM 2750E: Pyrometry
- AIPS04-00-000: Heat treatment of metallic material generalities
- AIPS/AIPI04-02-001: Heat treatment of parts (Stress Relieve) manufactured from Ti and Ti alloys
- Quality System
President Bob Hill states, “We are excited to provide Airbus with the high-quality vacuum heat treating services that they require and we look forward to exceeding their high expectations for turn-around and service.”
