Automation Engineer

Company: Solar Manufacturing, Inc. – Souderton, PA

Solar Manufacturing in Souderton, PA has an immediate need for an Automation Engineer for designing, developing, implementing instrumentation and automation systems for the control and monitor of vacuum furnaces and their thermal processes. The ideal candidate will be involved in all aspects of process control projects ranging from defining project scope; designing and developing software/hardware requirements of new control systems architecture, programming, and configuration; in-house integration and testing activities; supporting service engineers with onsite installation and commissioning.

Responsibilities will also include: modifying and upgrading of existing furnace control systems; assisting other engineers with necessary documentation for the purchase of materials and services related to controls systems; providing support to our sales team; fielding questions and resolving process control issues with customers; and working with suppliers, contractors, and other relevant professionals to recommend advancements to improve our furnace controls.

This is an exempt (salaried) position, with compensation dependent on education/training, job experience, and acquired skills, plus a sales incentive (eligible after six satisfactory months at Solar) paid monthly based on the previous month’s billings. Typical benefits are excellent, including health, dental, and vision coverage (80% company paid premium, eligible after 60 days’ satisfactory performance), life insurance and 401k with company match (eligible after six satisfactory months at Solar), paid vacation and personal time, gym membership, and more.


  • Possess an earned Bachelor’s degree or equivalent engineering discipline
  • Have a minimum of five years of experience designing instrumentation and control systems for a manufacturing concern
  • Have an in depth understanding and experience with the following: RSLogix 5000 (Studio 5000), RSLogix 500, Factorytalk View SE and ME, Wonderware InTouch, Wonderware Application Server, Wonderware System Platform, Wonderware Historian, C#, and Visual Basic
  • Be familiar with Wonderware’s MES, real-time Operations Management and Production Information Management software
  • Have comprehensive trouble shooting skills with ability to create, read, and update electrical diagrams
  • Have experience programming and working with a multitude of VFDs and industrial sensors
  • Have experience with safety integration systems
  • Have experience with working safety and electrical standards and codes
  • Have demonstrated experience with the control of process temperature, pressure, and flow
  • Proficiency with Windows® based PC’s, MS Office, especially MS Excel, and Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Display excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

Field Service Engineer

Due to continued growth, Solar Manufacturing, a leading manufacturer of advanced vacuum heat treating furnaces, is seeking an experienced, professional Field Service Engineer. We desire a motivated Candidate who possesses exceptional customer service skills to represent the Company with integrity, build good will with our customers at all levels, and maintain our high standards of quality. Solar Manufacturing is a part of the Solar Atmospheres, Inc. family of companies, a privately-owned company with great benefits.

  • perform pre-shipment furnace testing and start-ups
  • perform after-shipment field furnace start-ups, installation supervision, and training
  • perform equipment and systems troubleshooting both on-site and by technical support via telephone
  • perform warranty repairs, hot zone installations and repairs, preventative maintenance tasks, pyrometry and vacuum leak detection services
  • travel up to 50% including some international travel. Due to the nature of our business, travel may sometimes be with short notice and working during off-hours may be possible


  • a minimum of five years of field service experience ideally servicing industrial heat processing equipment
  • a 2-year technical degree preferred. Equivalent technical military training or demonstrated job related experience acceptable in lieu of formal technical education
  • a working knowledge of industrial control systems and PLCs
  • proficiency in RSLogix, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • industrial electrical and mechanical skills
  • ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • must be able to travel domestically and internationally
  • excellent communication skills
  • US citizenship

Preferred Experience:

  • servicing industrial heat processing equipment: 5 years

Solar is interested in working with a well-experienced representative that has strong ties, but not limited to the ever growing Aerospace and Energy markets.

Vacuum Pump Service Technician (Entry Level)

Company:Vacuum Pump Services Corp. – Hatfield, PA

Vacuum Pump Services is seeking an Entry Level Vacuum Pump Technician to repair, service, and rebuild vacuum pumps. We desire a motivated and professional candidate who possesses exceptional skills to represent the Company with integrity and maintain our high standards of business ethics.

Requirements / Qualifications:
