Ensure Precision and Compliance:
Let’s work together to get it right — the first time, every time.
Working Together for Precise and Reliable Heat Treating Results
At Solar Atmospheres, delivering precision, quality, and consistency in every heat treatment process is our top priority. To ensure your parts are processed accurately, efficiently, and to the highest standards, it’s crucial that we receive complete and detailed ordering information right from the start.
Providing key details—such as material designation, heat treatment specs, end user identification, and applicable quality clauses—ensures accurate processing, regulatory compliance, full traceability, and timely delivery of results you and your customers can trust.
To help streamline your next order, we’ve developed a comprehensive checklist outlining the critical information needed for a smooth and successful heat treating experience.
Your Guide to a Hassle-Free and Compliant Heat Treating Experience:
- Part Number, name and current revision level
- Quantity
- Job and/or Work Order Number(s)
- Material alloy designation of product and present HT condition. Include Material Mill Certs and Test Reports if possible.
- Heat Treatment Specification(s) with revision level
- Quality clauses pertinent to services requested on PO
- Attach Prints or OP Sheets. If processing information is listed on a Print or Op Sheet, the PO shall state Process per Print #xxx or Op sheet # #xxx.
- Process requirements (ie., air, vacuum, specific vacuum levels, distortion, bright or discolored ok etc.)
- Processing Variables from specifications such as temperatures, soak times, atmospheres etc.
- Pre- and Post Heat Treat cleaning requirements
- Racking and post-heat treatment corrosion protection requirements
- Indicate if ITAR or EAR controlled
- Defense Rated orders shall indicate their rating levels ie. DX or DO
- Identify the End User / Prime Contractor
- Do End User / Prime Contractor requirements need to be applied?
- Indication of related industry use (I.E. Aerospace, Nuclear, Medical, Defense, etc.)
- Hardness Sampling Requirements – (i.e., ANSI sampling plan, 100% testing, no testing required, etc.)
- Special Testing Requirements – (i.e., test location, test load (superficial vs HRC), location to cut parts for sampling, etc.)
- Laboratory Testing Requirements – (i.e., microstructure, surface contamination, tensile testing)
- Solar Quote Number and revision level
- Requested Due Date
- Correct Pricing with included expedite fees if needed
- Record retention requirements (if any)
- Traceability requirements (if any)
- Validation and process submission requirements
